Dormant Accounts

A dormant account is an account that has a balance of less than $250 for a period of 365 consecutive days, the member has not contacted the Credit Union, there has been no activity on the account, or the mail is being returned and no address can be verified during this time.

If the member has a dormant account and does not have an active loan of any type, a Share Certificate, or an IRA/SEP, then the member’s account will be assessed a $25 dormant account fee annually in December of each year for the continued maintenance of the account at the Credit Union.

When the available balance on an inactive account drops below $5, no statements will be mailed and that amount is forfeited to the Credit Union.

Funds in an account that has been dormant for five consecutive years will be escheated to the State of Montana.
